Our story

Family-run in Fredericton since 1981

Two generations of the Hicks family, a 28,000 sq ft showroom, and furniture people still love twenty years on.

The film

Eric and Scott Hicks on 45 years of Valley Ridge

Eric and Kathy Hicks opened Valley Ridge in 1981, and their son Scott runs it today. In this short film, father and son talk about how it started and the values that still guide the store.

How we got here

1981. Eric and Kathy Hicks both left secure jobs to open Valley Ridge in Fredericton. They chose early on not to compete with the big chains. They would sell higher-quality furniture instead, the kind people still love after ten years of use, and twenty.

The second generation. Scott grew up in the business, working around the property, in the warehouse and on the delivery truck through high school. Today he runs Valley Ridge, and you can still find him on the showroom floor or out in the warehouse.

Coast to coast. Valley Ridge is no longer only a local store. We ship across Canada every week from a warehouse three times the size of our old one, and our online orders have reached all ten provinces.
